Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center - Oxon Hill, MD
This large-scale project demanded that a vast number of panel types with varying colorations and textures would be necessary. The degree of difficulty in quality control was increased due to necessity of fabrication taking place at two different locations. To undertake this task and achieve project quality deserving of an award shows a high degree of technical capability. The size of this massive complex is deceptive because of the variety of building cladding used. The precast panels complement the glazing system in such a way so as to downplay the size of the massive walls, creating a play between solid and void, and transparent and opaque. To further emphasize this variety, texturing of the panels beside the windows is subtle but beautiful.
